The Michigan Adventure Race: Kids Edition (formerly Kids Adventure Challenge) mixes the best of The Amazing Race, Minute to Win It, and treasure hunt all into one fun adventure for kids and their families. This is a great way for families to be active together while exploring Kent County’s Johnson Park. Geared for youth between the ages of 5 and 12 (but all ages welcome), kids and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will conquer several challenges and hunt for checkpoints scattered throughout the park. Each challenge station will be scaled according to different ages and abilities. There is a 2-hour time limit, but everyone is encouraged to do the adventure at their own pace – walk or run – with all the youth receiving a finisher’s medal, $5 Gazelle Sports gift certificate and tech shirt. Every checkpoint and challenge is optional, just be back in 2 hours.
Each youth participant will receive a passport card that will have a map of the park on it that includes the location of the challenges and checkpoints. The Challenge Stations well have games or activities that kids will complete before they can get a mark on their card.
The checkpoints are orienteering flags that will be hanging from trees. Attached to each
flag is a hole punch. Once your kids locate the flags, they need to use the punch to mark their cards. The map you are given will have the location of each Challenge Station and Checkpoint.
An adult (over the age of 18) must accompany youth at all times, but there is no limit to the team size. Teams can also race together. Adults are free, with each youth who registers receiving a t-shirt and finisher’s gift.
Same-day registration does NOT include the shirt.
We are also excited to be raising support and awareness for (TBD).
